MD&A’s core offerings include a full line of valve components for all types of steam turbines. Full reverse engineering services are also available, including engineered design modifications. We can also provide Stellite® weld repair to various valve components.

MD&A offers an alternative solution for owners who have experienced main stop valve stem erosion. The Triplet Type Main Stop Valve Upgrade provides an effective counter-measure to solid particle erosion experienced on conventional valve designs. This design can be applied in both sub and supercritical applications.

We also provide conventional packing and spill strips. Our extensive technical library provides us the ability to manufacture to OEM specifications and tolerances.

Our experts offer a patented advanced design Guardian® packing ring and a Vortex Shedder® spill strip. Unlike some packing designs, Guardian® Packing rings maintain a positive radial seal during shutdown, turning gear, start-up, and unit operation.  While the Vortex Shedder® incorporates an aerodynamic geometry to reduce the leakage flow while improving stage heat rate performance.

MD&A offers customers major improvements in long blade design. Continuous Cover Blades (CCB) are constructed using a mono-block blade structure that leaves fewer locations for corrosive deposits and is less susceptible to stress corrosion cracking.

MD&A Bearings, Seals & Hydraulics Division specializes in steam turbine bearing repairs, such as Tapered Land Thrust and Tilt Pad Thrust, with quick delivery. We also have helped many customers eliminate the undesirable effects of oil whip or steam whirl by designing, manufacturing, and repairing elliptical bearings. Also, we offer tilt pad journal retrofits. Lastly, we offer oil deflector reconditioning and bronze seal ring manufacturing.

Our Control Systems Division (CSD) provides expertise to service or retrofit turbine control and generator excitation systems and their auxiliaries. Our experts are available to aid our customers in the replacement of their legacy turbine circuit boards.
