The CTOTF Spring 2022 Conference & Trade Show will be held at the Galt House in Louisville, KY on March 13th – 17th, 2022.

Meet our experts at our booth!

We’re as committed to your machine output as you are. MD&A offers gas turbine services ranging from Combustion, Hot Gas Path, and Major Inspections, as well as, Compressor & Turbine Rotor Repairs to Plant Performance Testing and Analysis. Whether it’s an inspection or a repair, MD&A will design the solution you need to address your specific fleet issues and keep you running efficiently.

See our presentation “Investing in GT Components to get the Payoff of Extended Life!” in-person in Louisville, KY on Tuesday, March 15th!

The OEM will denote capital components, typically during the Term of an LTSA, that have reached their serviceability life and deem them as scrap. Customers hence have a growing pile of scrap parts in their warehouse which over time increases costs for the customer. However, the most effective way to operate a plant would be to invest and maximize repairs. The Plant in the end would get the payoff and reward of additional use of their used parts while minimizing scrap and new components!

MD&A can help the customer by screening the entire scrap warehouse and performing component repairs on particular high-value parts extending their life beyond the OEM established limits. In this presentation, we will cover that process and also cover the steps used in implementing a lifetime extension while showing some case study examples, specific to Frame 7FA and 7EA fleets. We will go through determining if the components are candidates for a lifetime extension by understanding the parent material and condition.

Also in this presentation, we will cover 7FA DLN 2.6 Fuel Nozzle End Cover Insert Life Extension. The reward and life expectancy of these end covers increase from the OEM claim of 48,000 hrs. to over 125,000 hrs. with a new maximum of 7 insert replacements per cover while maintaining minimum wall thicknesses. Our experts will also be mentioning our Portable In-Situ Air Flow Test stand which allows for immediate data on gas turbine nozzle performance while still remaining assembled on the unit!

Speakers:

José Quiñones, Engineering Manager of MD&A San Antonio Service Center [Gas Turbine Parts Service Facility]

Pat Murphy, Director of MD&A Fuel Nozzle Services [ICS]
