7F Users Group 2020 Conference Online
7F Users Group, Inc. focuses on F-class gas turbines and is an open exchange of ideas between owner/operators and owner/operators with vendors. The 2020 conference will be held in a Webinar format with two sessions a week running from June 16th through July 17th.
MD&A offers gas turbine services & repairs ranging from Combustion, Hot Gas Path, and Major Inspections to Compressor & Turbine Rotor Repairs and End of Life inspections. Whether it’s an inspection or a repair, MD&A will design the solution you need to address your specific fleet issues and keep you running efficiently. Read about our case study on a 7FH2 Gas Turbine Generator Repair. View our video on our patented 7FH2 Spring Migration Repair.
MD&A experts will be participating on Wednesday, June 24, 2020 with a 7F Extended Technical live presentation. Individual topic details are below:
MD&A 1:45 PM – 3:30 PM
VIRTUAL VENDOR FAIR: 3:30 PM – 5:30 P
Mark VI Controls
Presenter: Joe Clappis
Abstract: Our Control Systems Division will be demonstrating the usefulness of the Toobox/ToolboxST ‘Trend Recorder’ (also called ‘Trender’) for troubleshooting trips and operational problems. A very basic explanation of Trend Recorder will be presented, then recorded data from various events (trips; operational issues; etc.) will be presented. Emphasis will be on reviewing and analyzing existing Trend Recorder files automatically created and uploaded to the GE® Mark VI HMI every hour and after any turbine trip. We will also show how to access Alarms and Events on the files for better understanding of the information and the data/trip.
7FA Parts Lifetime Extension Clinic
Presenter: Jose Quinones
Abstract: Typical gas turbine components operate to the OEM recommended useful life. In order to determine if the components are candidates for a lifetime extension, we need to understand if the parent material has the properties needed to operate one more service interval. We also need to ensure that the repair that will be implemented can also operate for one more service interval. In the process of learning about the components condition we also get to understand their failure modes. We use these lessons learned to design gas turbine components that are more robust in operation and more repairable. Our repair center has repaired over 1,200 F-class sets of components. In this webinar we will cover the typical limiting factors of 7F gas turbine components and how they can be repaired. We will cover the steps used in implementing a lifetime extension and will show specific case studies.
7FA Fuel Nozzle End Cover Insert Life Extension example & in-situ flow test
Presenter: Pat Murphy
Abstract: 7FA Fuel Nozzle End Cover Insert Life Extension example and in-situ flow test for Fuel nozzles. MD&A Fuel Nozzle Services Division can extend the service life of a Fuel Nozzle End Cover. The life expectancy of an end cover increases from the OEM claim of 48,000 hrs. to over 125,000 hrs. with a new maximum of 7 insert replacements per cover. MD&A will go through a specific 7FA example.
7FH2 Generator Field winding shorted turn / ground wall insulation findings
Presenter: James Joyce
Abstract: 7FH2 Field winding shorted turn / ground wall insulation findings – summarize findings from 7FH2 fields that MD&A has refurbished in their shop (or at site) – this issue (particularly typical shorted turn locations) may be very design dependent (i.e. whether at end turn corner areas, C-coil braze joints, etc.) – MD&A should be able to provide useful data from their experience.
