Tim Keen
Technical Advisor Outage Services Division
Background:
I spent 10 years in the US Navy working on rotating equipment as part of the machinery repairs team. After that, I worked at a utility as a supervisor of turbine outage work and eventually became the general foreman for the entire steam turbine fleet.
For the past 13 years, I have been working at MD&A as a technical field advisor, specifically focusing on steam turbine maintenance outages in the field.
What is your role at MD&A? And what do you enjoy the most about it?
I work as a project manager and technical field advisor at MD&A. The part of my job that I find the most fulfilling is working closely with our customers and sharing my knowledge with the team.
What is the coolest job you’ve worked on? What has been your favorite project at MD&A?
One of the projects that stands out to me was a very long and in-depth inspection of piping and valve chest elevations. We had to take optics and shoot all of the elevation of the valve casing to ensure they were correct. This usually only happens on new construction projects.
What is the most interesting challenge you have come across at a jobsite?
For me, it’s always been the task of forming a team out of a group of 20-40 individuals who may or may not be familiar to me.
What has been the best vacation spot you have been to?
Alaska, the fishing is phenomenal.
What is your personal moto?
Not a moto per say, but I strive to learn on every job and in life.
