Ellen Keen

Administrative Assistant Outage Services Division

Ellen KeenContinuing our 40th Anniversary Celebration, we asked some of our most tenured employees about their experience working for MD&A. Ellen Keen, Administrative Assistant in the Outage Services Division shares her thoughts on MD&A.

Why did you choose to work for MD&A and why have you continued to choose to work at MD&A?

I was introduced to MD&A by Fred Luck who was our CFO at the time. I chose to work here because I already had a background in this industry. Previously, I worked on the gas turbine side of the business with a company that my father had started as he previously worked for GE® himself. I have continued to work here because of the growth this company has had over the years and I do enjoy the work that I do.

What was the organization like when you joined?

When I first joined the organization, we were working out of the big house in Glenville, NY.  It was very laid back. Jim Lindsey would make rounds striking up a casual conversation. He always took the time to chat with his employees. He always had a story to tell whether it was about his apple cart in the city or he always liked to tell the joke about the corporate “seal.”

Do you remember your first day?

Absolutely.  I was nervous and excited at the same time.

Do you have any favorite memories from your time with MD&A thus far?

Oh, wow I have so many favorite memories of MD&A. Over 28 years of them! I think the best memory for me would be our time working out of the big house.  The BBQs we had in the backyard were great. Jim Lindsey owned a country store so every year at our holiday parties he would bring a pie for everyone to take home.  Groundhog’s day was his favorite holiday so he would be sure to bring in Apple Pie to celebrate the day. For Christmas and Administrative Day, he made sure all the secretaries would get a big basket from the country store.  They were the best.

How has your job changed over the years?

When I first started with MD&A I was hired to work in the Finance Department as an Accounts Payable Clerk. After a couple of years, I was then promoted to Jim Lindsey’s Administrative Assistant.  After I returned from maternity leave, I then became dedicated to just the Alignment and TD group and have continued working with them ever since.

What is the best part of your job or tasks?

Supporting our Field Engineers. Without them where would MD&A be?

Thank you, Ellen!
