I have been with MD&A for 14 years. I started in the tooling center for the Outage Services Division.  I have been very fortunate at MD&A to have had a variety of opportunities that have come my way. Building new tooling trailers, helping in the valve shop, working for Outage Services as a millwright, and finally starting my new role with MD&A Parts Division.

I began my career with NRG Energy, where I worked as a Repairs Engineer at their central maintenance shop. I was responsible for inspection and repair of a variety of power generation components including turbine rotors, diaphragms, gland casings, valves, pumps, and heat exchangers.  I joined MD&A in 2012…

I began my career with GE® as a Field Engineer in the late 1990s, working with the 7EA and 7FA gas turbines on new installations primarily. After five years in the field, I transitioned into management, taking over as the Manager of the GE® DLN Controls Global Team. Following my time with GE®, I served Progress Energy (now Duke Energy) as a Plant Manager over several simple cycle and combined cycle power plants before finishing out my tenure as the Project Director for a combined cycle repowering project in St. Petersburg, Florida.

I started working at a Packing and Spill Manufacturing company in 1989. My duties began as a Quality Inspector and Drafting/Design technician. I handled all Reverse Engineering and Pre-Measurements, eventually advancing to oversee the Engineering and Sales departments of the company. In 1998, I transitioned to Turbo Parts to manage the Packing and Spills Division and expand the Guardian and Vortex Spill businesses. Turbo Parts was acquired by MD&A in 2003.

I attended RIT for my bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and then RPI for my Masters In Mechanical Engineering.  I began my engineering career in the Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program at Electric Boat in Connecticut.  I worked on a series of assignments that dealt with component design, development, and test for a variety of systems.  I then spent several years at the Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory in New York taking on a variety of design and field engineering assignments followed by a series of engineering management roles before coming to MD&A in May 2022.

I was born and raised in rural northern Vermont (Northeast Kingdom). I enlisted in the US Army in 1988 and served in the Gulf War before college. I then went to work as an engineer for GE® Gas Turbine exhaust ductwork and exhaust stacks from 1998-2004. I traveled extensively to power plant sites and vendor sites to supervise installations and new vendor qualifications. I was then a Lead Engineer for GE® Steam Turbine diaphragms from 2004-2012. I came to MD&A Parts Division in 2012 as a packing and seals engineer.

I attended Clarkson University for my Bachelor’s Degree and then Georgia Tech for my Masters in Mechanical Engineering. I began my career in GE’s® Edison Design Program working on rotational assignments. I then spent several years at Dresser-Rand® designing Industrial Steam Turbines before I joined MD&A in 2015.

I’ve worked in the power industry since 1991 and on gas turbine technology since 1982.  I’ve worked on everything from component design to power plant design, and from conceptual system studies to detailed analysis of fielded parts.  I’ve mostly worked behind the scenes, but I spent a few years on a marine gas turbine project where I spent a lot of time with the customer. 

David received his B.S in Mechanical Engineering from Clarkson University. He then went on to Union College to receive his M.S in Mechanical Engineering. David also has his professional engineering license from New York State.
