Gas Turbine ServicesMD&A’s Gas Turbine Service project managers and technical directors are seasoned professionals with a broad range of experiences whose skill sets cover both common and unique makes and models of turbomachinery from around the world.

Whenever possible, power plant owners prefer to plan for major turbine outages that involve gas turbine overhauls. However, forced gas turbine outages do occur and too often result in the need for expedited engineering response and immediate turbine outage services.

MD&A offers outage planning and technical direction.  We provide clients with the labor, engineering, and technical experts necessary to address both planned and forced outages of all types of turbines and generators. Our technical directors and project managers are available 24 hours a day.

Our turnkey outage management includes Combustion, Hot Gas Path, and Major Inspections. Today, we continue to expand our talent and employ many of the best minds and technical experts in the industry. Our turnkey labor specialists provide testing, inspection, maintenance, training, and repair of turbomachinery in more than 20 countries worldwide.

Our experts also offer compressor vane pinning to address shim migration and vane rocking issues experienced on some large frame gas turbines.

The Design Service Life, aka End of Life (EOL), of a gas turbine rotor, can be based on statistical predictions of component life, based on an assumed operational mission mix; each rotor component is influenced differently by operational stresses, temperatures, and duty cycles. We look at the Gas Turbine Rotor & Compressor Rotor. An End of Life Evaluation can help decide if component Repair, Replace or Use is the best option for your gas turbine rotor to meet operational and maintenance forecast.

Our team of experts can complete center-line installations of turbine-generator sets manufactured by nearly all OEMs.

We also offer on-site or in-shop Field Machining for any rotating or stationary turbine-generator component. Our portable machine shops can be rented by clients for general outage use.

Our alignment experts can provide customers with a reliable method of measuring and aligning gas turbine components with Gas Turbine Alignment, Operational Alignment Diagnostics (CMM System), and coupling laser alignment, along with vibration analysis and balance (low-speed & high-speed.) Additionally, this team offers Turbine Foundation Monitoring.

Our specialized service capabilities include Control and Excitation Field Engineering, Consulting & Training. MD&A Turbine and Generator Controls Division maintains a staff of OEM experienced field engineers who provide installation, technical support, advanced troubleshooting, training, and consulting services for gas turbine controls, generator excitation, and turbine auxiliary systems. Capabilities also include Turbine System Enhancements to improve system performance.
