Shop Capabilities
MD&A’s new state-of-the-art turbine-generator repair
facility is centrally located just outside the St. Louis city
limits in South St. Louis County, Missouri. Construction
of the facility was completed in 2006 and includes a
complete array of amenities such as: office space for our
administrative and engineering staff members, 80 tons of
overhead crane capacity and a direct rail spur for loading
and unload even the largest rotors and other heavy components.
This new 100,000 square foot facility houses
both portable and stationary equipment for the machining,
repair and overhaul of turbine-generator components. The
building was designed to accommodate the rapid growth of our turbine-generator maintenance, repair and overhaul
business and has allowed us to consolidate several of our
regional shops into one centrally located facility.
This facility also houses:
- A clean room with temperature and humidity control for in-shop
stator and field rewinds
- A full-size paint booth for refurbishment of miscellaneous equipment
- Five portable Conex trailers stocked with all tools necessary
for on-site field and stator rewinds
- A fully stocked refrigeration unit for temperature-sensitive
epoxies, tapes and other materials
- A dedicated department for refurbishment and manufacture of
new GE and Westinghouse air-cooled, hydrogen-cooled and water-cooled
high-voltage bushings
- A fully stocked supply department with expendables, RTDs, and
common replacement parts
- Four patented Hydraulic Integrity Test (HIT) skids for testing
of large GE liquid-cooled stators
- A supply of new stand-off insulators for GE machines
- All equipment necessary to perform full electrical testing,
including AC Hi Pot testing
- Digital Electromagnetic Imperfection Detection testing equipment
