Outage Services
Whenever possible, power plant owners prefer to plan ahead for major outages that involve steam turbine overhauls or generator inspections. However, forced outages do occur and too often result in the need for expedited engineering response and immediate outage services. MD&A provides clients with the labor, engineering and the technical experts necessary to address both planned and forced outages of steam turbines and generators. Our technical directors and project managers are available 24 hours a day.

Turnkey Labor
MD&A provides skilled turbine-generator mechanics, supervisors, tools, equipment and other required services for the turnkey installation, overhaul and maintenance of turbine-generators and other rotating equipment. We utilize computer-aided scheduling with daily update capability and offer manpower planning by task and shift. Full performance bonding, as required.

Technical Direction
Technical Directors for owners conducting turbine-generator inspections, overhauls, repairs and upgrades. Our TDs have full access to all of our technical assets, including other MD&A divisions. On average, our field engineers have 10 years of experience, many with significant customer-specific experience. Many of our TDs have a broad background of experience with many OEM equipment types, enabling them to effectively address even the most complex technical challenges.

Topless Alignment
Topless Alignment Services® eliminates the time consuming and expensive process of reassembling the turbine for "Tops-On" measurements, saving hundreds of man-hours and labor per turbine section. Most centerline alignment activities are moved off the critical path, reducing outage duration by days. No "Tops-On" readings are needed.

Field Machining
MD&A offers an array of portable field machining and steampath repair equipment for use on-site. We also maintain portable machine shops that can be rented by clients for general outage use. Our machining capabilities include the ability to on-site or in-shop repair horizontal joints on turbine casings, damaged valves, rotors and nearly any rotating or stationary turbine-generator component. We offer an abundance of field machining equipment within our 100,000 square foot Turbine-Generator Repair Facility, located in St. Louis, MO.

Custom Installation of Seals
Turbo Parts offers custom installation of any packing ring or tip seal. Utilizing a mobile containerized machine shop, our specially trained crews provide the best quality installation available assuring proper fit and function of the seal.

Outage Planning
Through knowledgeable and effective planning, outage times can be held to a minimum, thus maximizing your on-line time. Maintenance Advanced Planning Services can be tailored to meet those needs, freeing your personnel to work on other outage activities. MAPS includes a review of prior outage recommendations, pre-outage planning and testing, turnkey outage management, and, as needed post-outage testing and planning. We also provide clients with a complete spare parts review and final report.

Center-line Installations
MD&A provides strong, experienced project managers, craft labor and technical support personnel needed to cost-effectively complete center-line installations of steam turbine-generator sets manufactured by nearly all OEMs. We also offer project management, technical direction, safety personnel, craft labor and supervision. We install rotors, bearings, standards all internal components, condenser expansion joints, casings, turning gears, piping for auxiliaries and steam seal system. We also conduct hydro testing.
