  • Steam Turbine Retrofits

    MD&A/Hitachi offer comprehensive impulse and reaction steam turbine retrofit packages for High (HP), High-Intermediate (HIP), Intermediate (IP), and Low Pressure (LP) turbine sections.  MD&A/Hitachi provide owners with options to address needs for single and multi-section retrofit packages.  These options support:

    • HIP opposed-flow turbines with four-flow LP sections
    • HP/IP Individual configuration turbines with four-flow LP Sections
    • HIP opposed-flow turbines in single casing, double-flow LP sections
    • Reaction Type Large Steam Turbines

  • Generator Retrofits & Replacements

    MD&A/Hitachi offer comprehensive generator retrofits and replacements packages for most turbine generator products.  MD&A/Hitachi provide owners with replacement rotors and complete generator replacements which  provide the latest advances in generator technology.  We use upgraded materials for optimum design and performance and incorporate the use optimized geometry and insulation characteristics.

  • Excitation Retrofits

    MD&A Control Systems is the exclusive provider of Hitachi’s VCS 6000 Automatic Voltage Regulator in North America for retrofits. Our system includes multiple bridge configurations with Hitachi’s state-of-the-art VCS-6000 digital automatic voltage regulator and power system stabilizer. This system is highly adaptable as a retrofit upgrade or replacement system and can be used in a small rotating or large static excitation application.

  • Hitachi Long Blades

    MD&A has joined with Hitachi to introduce major improvements in long blade design. Blades are constructed using a mono-block blade structure that leaves fewer locations for corrosive deposits and are less susceptible to stress corrosion cracking. Reliability is enhanced by simple connections at the blade tip that consists of a Hitachi's advanced Continuous Cover Blade. Blades are installed by seasoned technicians and supervised by highly experienced MD&A steampath engineers.

  • Main Stop Valve Upgrade

    MD&A/Hitachi offer an alternative solution for owners who have experienced main stop valve stem erosion.  The Hitachi Triplet Type Main Stop Valve Upgrade provides an effective counter-measure to solid particle erosion experienced on conventional valve designs.  One advantage of the Triplet Type Bypass Main Stop Valve includes significantly reduced erosion on the valve stem and skirt.  Consequently, valve maintenance is reduced.  This design can be applied in both sub and super critical applications.

  • Turbine Control Retrofits

    MD&A’s TCX is Steam Turbine Control with Open Architecture. It provides a customized, reliable, and maintainable system upgrade that incorporates state of the art technology that is integrated with the plant’s existing control platforms. The TCX system is scalable and can include all necessary functions for replacement of any OEM electro-hydraulic or mechanical-hydraulic system, regardless of steam valve configuration.

  • Air Cooled Bridges

    MD&A Control Systems supplies and installs air cooled rectifier bridges for the retrofit of water cooled bridges. The bridges are designed to be a direct, drop in replacement and require minimal installation time and almost no cabinet modification with no fans. Maintenance costs are lowered and reliability improved. Available with installation by MD&A or clients can purchase only the bridges.
