Mechanical Dynamics & Analysis has, since its founding, enjoyed
a reputation throughout the power industry as innovators, practitioners
and teachers in the art of balancing and vibration analysis of heavy
rotating equipment.
- MD&A is the leading proponent in the use of influence coefficient
balance methods, which offer the best assurance of reliable results.
- MD&A has taught balance and vibration analysis courses to a
wide range of customers, many on a repeat basis. These courses
cover the fundamentals, data taking, use of analyzers, equipment
characteristics, strategies for handling vibration problems, including
conducting balance work.
- MD&A has a wide range of vibration analysis equipment available
to permit accurate and fast data acquisition. The equipment is
capable of downloading directly or via modem to computers for
display, editing and analyses.
- MD&A's staff of on-site balance and vibration experts are highly
experienced, coming from a range of OEM and utility company backgrounds.
MD&A offers on-site low-speed balance services for rotors weighing
up to 400,000 pounds. We have eight balance machines available,
together with the technical staff to bring them on-site and conduct
the balance. Low speed balance of turbine rotors is an art requiring
careful review of a number of aspects and it is our policy to ensure
that each job is supported, on-site, by a qualified balance engineer.
