Generator Testing & Inspection Services

MD&A's generator specialists perform a series of tests and inspections on both rotating and stationary generator components. Components are subjected to both electrical and visual inspections, some of which must be conducted with the field removed and others that can be conducted while the field is still in place.

Generator Testing & InspectionThe goal of the Generator Specialist is to provide you with data from a series of applicable tests that collectively help you make decisions about the necessity of repairs. Specific tests conducted vary according to each customer's defined work-scope. Our specialists use state-of-the-art electrical testing equipment and computer generated, on-site report-templates, allowing test results to be reviewed by the Maintenance Supervisor before the engineer leaves the plant. Historical data is used in every possible case to trend current test results with those of past outages. Where applicable, specific test procedures are followed in accordance with OEM recommendations and published maintenance/technical letters.

Once each year, a technical seminar is conducted by our generator experts that focuses on helping customers to better understand test results. Here, the focus is on determining the implications of specific tests as they apply to the overall long-term reliability of the machine.

An abbreviated list of the monitoring applications, electrical tests, measurements and inspections that are performed by our engineers includes:
